First Frost

24 x 18 inches

Acrylic on canvas

In my First Frost painting, I introduce you to the late bloom of a lily during the fall first frost. I show its luminous petals that I rendered with touches of fiery orange, golden yellow and yummy magenta that illuminate and brighten up a shimmering gray and deep black scene recalling an autumn twilight. For me, this scene represents hope and illustrate that joy and light can appear at all time.

The painting is part of my Autumn Garden series, which invite you in the felt universe of the vegetation preparing for sleep. I have sought in these paintings to illustrate my love of the small things that make the sweetness of life: the warm colors of the rising or setting sun which always gives me joy, the saline fragrance of the colored leaves on the ground, the starry sky shivering in the twilight, or the visit of a flowery greenhouse in November.

The patterns of the painting continue on the 1½in sides. It is strung with picture cords ready to hang.
